Free LPG Boilers*
Liquid petroleum gas (LPG) boilers are used in many properties not connected to main gas to heat their home. LPG is delivered by road and stored in a tank; it is normally used in a ‘wet’ heating system where the LPG-fired boiler heats water for your radiators and taps.
Why is it free?*
There is a government led initiative under the Energy Company Obligation Scheme (ECO) that requires energy companies to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving the energy efficiency of households; installing energy efficient upgrades to households with low incomes or on certain benefits. Many people refer to this as the boiler replacement scheme or free boiler scheme.
The latest policy, ECO3, commenced on 3 December 2018 and applies to measures completed from 1 October 2018.
